My name is Damon and I am soon to be Daniella's husband. I wanted to start off this blog talking about my point of view on the whole weight loss issue. First, I am very proud of my fiance. She is working hard to succeed in her goals, and is trying her best to stay on task with her program. Trying to lose weight with kids in the house can be a challenge, and she has risen to that task. I support her in her decision, but I am not forcing the issue on her. The truth is I started dating her with her weight, and I love her not for being heavy or light, but for being her. For her, the Weight Watcher's program is working. Actually, I am eating the food with her, and I like most of it also. I do have a slight weight problem, but not nearly as drastic as Daniella. I have found someone that eats healthy, and that likes the same things that i do. Which makes the "diet"easier.
It is hard in today's economy to eat healthy. Fruits and vegitables prices are higher due to the weather in Florida and California. And, as healthy eating is currently the fad, everyone is raising prices trying to capitalize on the popularity. The Weight Watcher name brand items are a little more expensive than store brands. With all of this, we are still able to make it. We shop sensibly, and budget for the slightly higher prices. As a hunter, I was able to add several pounds of venison to the freezer. This helps cut meat costs. We also eat more fish and chicken. Yes it can be done, even on a tight budget. The idea, as I figure it, is to plan your meals in advance, and plan for the cost. We also look for sales, coupons, and in-store deals. Sometimes we do have to drive 45 minutes to the Metroplex to shop, and we make the best of it when we do.
My favorite part of all of this is that I really do not have to do anything. She is cooking out of the Weight Watcher cookbooks, and I eat what she cooks. We discuss the meal plans, and agree on what she is cooking. And she tries to fit in some of my "problem" foods, like pasta. I do not know exactly what she is cooking from day to day, so I get a surprise for dinner!!!! And if there is something I want she will fit it in. My biggest problem is the sodas. I try to not drink soda at home, but at work it is hard. Today might have changed that as we got a pitcher for our fridge at work and are keeping tea in it. Yes it's sweet tea, but it's better than soda!!!!!
I hope that the following blogs will inspire you, and support you. Daniella and I will try to keep posting new ideas and recipes as time permits.
